I Was Breaking—But I Was Awakening: How Deepak Chopra’s 7 Spiritual Laws Helped Me Understand My Life, My Path, and My Journey

Just recently, I poured the deepest part of my story into a blog post—the kind of story I had been carrying in silence for far too long. And as I hit publish, it felt like a heavy weight had finally been lifted off my chest.

In that moment, I came to a quiet, powerful acceptance: this life I’m enduring… is the life I’m meant to go through. Not as punishment, but as a sacred path—crafted for my soul’s evolution.

By sharing my truth, I didn’t just release pain—I embraced it. And in doing so, I finally saw that everything I’ve been through was never in vain. Every heartbreak, every moment of fear and survival, every lonely night here in Japan… it was all shaping me. Preparing me.

Because of those moments, I’ve become the woman I needed to be for what’s coming next.

The world would never demand so much of me if I wasn’t already carrying the strength to rise above it.

And I now know—I am strong. I am equipped. I am enough.

This realization isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about remembering who I truly am beneath all the pain. I now understand that I was never broken—only becoming. And the more I surrender to what is, the more I feel guided to what could be. I’m not just surviving anymore. I’m awakening. I’m healing. I’m rising. And somehow, I know… this is just the beginning.

Then something stirred in my memory…

A book I read years ago—“The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success” by Deepak Chopra.

At the time, I couldn’t fully grasp it. It was so spiritually deep that I felt I needed to live more life before I could really understand it.

And now, I see why it came back to me.

Now, I’m ready to walk through each law—not just read them—but live them.

So today, I want to share the seven laws that made me understand more about my life.

Laws that taught me… and gently reminded me… of my true Self.

This book isn’t just helping me heal my heart, it helps me understand the life I’m living—it’s quietly rebuilding my life from the inside out.

One insight, one surrender, one soulful awakening at a time.

1. The Law of Pure Potentiality

“In the stillness of your soul, you are limitless.”

I used to think that who I was depended on how much money I had, what kind of wife I was, or how well I was holding everything together. But when I started peeling back all the labels—Filipina, foreigner, mother, dreamer, broken-hearted—I realized there was something deeper underneath all of it.

That still, quiet part of me—the one who has survived so much—is pure potential.

This law reminded me that I am more than my mistakes or my current circumstances. I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to become from this moment forward.

How I Apply It:

Now every morning, before I touch my phone or dive into motherhood, I sit in silence. Just five minutes of stillness. I breathe and remind myself: I’m a Divine being in a human body, therefore what I am is love, peace, harmony, joy, and affluence, health, extreme wealth, beauty, and perfection. I have a high sense of self-worth, self-trust and an inner knowing that I have everything within me to manifest whatever I set my mind to. And I affirm that who I am is not dependent on what I do—but on who I choose to be in every moment.

2. The Law of Giving

“The more love you give, the more your life expands.”

There were times I felt like I had nothing left to give—emotionally, financially, spiritually. But somehow, even in those moments, when I gave a word of encouragement to another struggling woman… when I hugged my daughter just a little longer… when I shared my truth through a blog post—I felt myself come alive.

This law helped me understand: giving doesn’t always mean money. It means presence. Kindness. Honesty. Even vulnerability.

How I Apply It:

Every day, I try to give from the heart—whether it’s a smile to another mom at the park, a message to a friend, or an honest blog that might help someone feel less alone. And I’ve learned that what I give… comes back in beautiful ways I never expected.

3. The Law of Karma

“Everything you do plants a seed in the universe.”

Looking back, I saw a pattern in my past—I would choose silence over truth, self-sacrifice over self-respect. And those seeds? They grew into frustration, resentment, and even pain.

This law taught me to become conscious of the choices I make. Especially the small ones.

As a mother, I now ask myself—What kind of seeds am I planting in my daughters’ hearts today? Am I teaching them to shrink themselves, or to trust their voice?

How I Apply It:

Before reacting, I pause. I ask myself: Is this choice moving me closer to love, or further from it? I try to choose with awareness—not just for me, but for the little eyes watching my every step.

4. The Law of Least Effort

“Nature doesn’t force itself. It simply becomes.”

Living in Japan as a foreigner, it’s so easy to feel like I constantly have to prove something—to fit in, to keep up, to be more. But this law whispered something so gentle yet so freeing:

You don’t have to push so hard to be worthy.

When I started blogging, I stopped trying to be perfect. I just showed up, wrote from my heart, and trusted that those who needed my words would find them.

How I Apply It:

Instead of forcing everything to go my way, I let life unfold. I work hard, yes—but I also release the need to control. I let go of outcomes. I trust that what’s meant for me will come—with grace, not struggle.

5. The Law of Intention and Desire

“Desire is the whisper of your soul.”

I used to feel guilty for dreaming of more—more peace, more freedom, more joy. I thought maybe I should just be content with what I had.

But this law reminded me that my dreams were planted in me for a reason.

Wanting to succeed, to write, to live fully—is not selfish. It’s sacred.

How I Apply It:

I now write down what I desire—not just things, but feelings. I want to feel safe, inspired, empowered. I hold those intentions close, and I act in alignment with them every day—even in small ways. My blog is one of them. My healing is another.

6. The Law of Detachment

“Let go of the how. Trust in the unfolding.”

This law is hard. I like to know how everything will work out. But motherhood, marriage, immigration, blogging—none of it goes according to plan.

This law taught me that clinging too tightly blocks the blessings.

Letting go doesn’t mean giving up—it means making space.

How I Apply It:

I pray. I work. I write. And then I release. I trust that life is unfolding for me, not against me. I don’t chase what isn’t mine. Because what’s for me will always find its way to me and I believe that what’s meant to stay, will stay.

7. The Law of Dharma

“You are here to fulfill a unique purpose.”

This law brought me to tears. Because for the longest time, I thought I was just surviving. That I was just one more struggling woman, doing her best in silence.

But now I know—my story, my journey, my voice… it matters.

I’m not just here to endure life. I’m here to share light.

How I Apply It:

This blog you’re reading? This is part of my dharma. Being a mother to my daughters? Also part of it. Every time I choose healing over bitterness, faith over fear—that’s me walking my purpose.

And now, I know: everything I’ve been through has equipped me to help others rise, too.

Final Words: From My Heart to Yours

I don’t write this because I’ve figured everything out. I write it because I’m walking through it—day by day, moment by moment.

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success didn’t change my life overnight. But they are changing the way I live my life—from one that’s heavy with survival to one that’s light with meaning.

If you’re feeling lost, tired, unsure of what’s next… maybe you don’t need to fix everything.

Maybe you just need to remember who you are.

A soul in evolution.

A woman being prepared.

A mother rising with quiet strength.

A dreamer who hasn’t given up.

This is your reminder: You are already everything you need to be.

And every challenge… is shaping you for something sacred.

Let me remind you; You are not missing. You are not broken.

You are simply unfolding… one beautiful, brave step at a time.

Every challenge you’ve faced wasn’t meant to destroy you—it was meant to prepare you.

For the woman you’re becoming.

For the dream you’re about to step into.

For the light you’re meant to carry into this world.

You are stronger than you think, softer than you know, and wiser than you realize.

And when life pushes you to your knees, it’s only because it’s teaching you how to rise.

Not as the person the world expects you to be—but as the woman your soul remembers you are.

So hold on to hope.

Trust in divine timing.

And keep showing up with faith in your heart.

Because your story?

It’s not over.

In fact…

it’s just beginning.
